22-year-old arrested after 11 lbs of meth, 500 pills found during drug bust in Galveston County, authorities say
The drugs were at multiple storage units and homes, GCSO said.
Five simultaneous search warrants led to a drug bust months in the making, aimed at disrupting criminal activity in Galveston County, according to authorities.
Mone Ford, 22, the target of the investigation, was arrested and faces multiple charges of delivery of a controlled substance, according to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office. His bail was set at $2 million.
It was an officer and his police dog who identified a storage unit that led to the discovery and seizure of multiple kilograms of meth, along with cocaine, fentanyl and a firearm, GCSO said.
Investigators said that marijuana, a pill press, body armor and cash were also found while executing the search warrants.
According to detectives, the evidence was found at three storage units in Texas City and La Marque, and at two residences in Dickinson and Texas City.
The sheriff's office thanked the multiple law enforcement agencies involved in the joint operation, including the Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force, Galveston County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team, Crime Reduction Unit, Galveston County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit, and the Houston Homeland Security Task Force.
GCSO also thanked Amoco Federal Credit Union for their donation that made the purchase of police dog Cash, who discovered the loot, possible.
Authorities have not announced any other arrests related to this investigation.
